I'm a Buddhist/journalist happily wandering without a map in Asia. I'm from Nanaimo on Canada's west coast where deer wander the streets and the mountains, forests, beaches and sun work a special magic. I love it.
But I guess not enough to live there :-). I enjoyed Seoul with its art exhibitons and galleries, the musicals and dramas and the the virbrant, multi-talented expat community involved in painting, music, photograph y. drama and every other art from you can think of. But I wanted to study Theravardan Buddhism and moved to Bangkok in June 2008 to do that.
One of Korea's special attractions is its Buddhism. Buddhism, which I slid into as I searched for release from anxiety and stress, has been very good for me, and means a lot to me. Living here has helped me know myself better.
Thanks for the info Tony -- I appreciate it! I'll make the contacts you suggested.
Wonhyo is a fascinating figure in Korean history. I've also always liked the pilgrimage idea.
I was reading about the 88 Temple Pilgrimage Trail of Japan about a year about, and wondered then why Korea does not have such a thing. Especially since the temple-stay project seems to be so popular.
Hi Tony .. I'm an expat who has been living in Korea for 12 years. I saw your pilgrimage idea in the paper, and would love to help, be involved in some way. I am Buddhist, and often visit temples.
Hello Tony, I am so interested to know more about the ancient pilgrimage path in Korea, can you help me? Do you know where I could read more about it? Thank you.
Hi Tony,
I am a student of Tibetan buddhism living in NYC. I am currently doing some research for my Lamas to convince them to come and teach in Seoul in a workshop. Do you think I can connect you with them so that they can contact you? Since my lamas are going into retreat at the end of Aug, I have limited time.. Please let me know. thanks you!
Hi Tony, hope you are well. I got a new schedule from work today, and I won't be finishing untill a little later on wednesday, so not sure if I could make it for 7. Would 7.15 be ok?
