grew up in Los Angeles, but now running a small business here is Seoul.
i also operate a small publishing firm on the side producing books on subjects such as meditation, utopian idealogies, and history.
i have no doubt that there are boundless wisdom and profound lessons to be learned from the dharmas, and our great teachers have made tremendous efforts to walk us through in our path to reconnect with our true-selves. nonetheless, it is also no secret that many people find understanding dharmas to be very difficult and intimidating. sure, i suppose overcoming difficulties is indeed part of the program. i also believe that the dharma can be expressed in ways that is much more accesible to the non-buddhist community. somehow, we can present the dharma in relation to everyday applications helping to resolve problems we face on a daily basis.
right now there is a movement involving members working in various fields and ethnic backgrounds (monks, students, businessmen, journalists, writers, poets, scientists, english teachers, and so on) with the intent to research and establish dharma-based ideology applicable to the modern society. The ultimate goal would be to introduce the new found ideology in to various fields such as education texts, corporate management theories, and works of literature/art.
the challenge will lie within our efforts to reassess the dharma without contaminating the core teachings while maintaining traditional values.
but i do believe it can be done!
so anyone interested in contributing to this movement, please send me a msg~
again, it can be done!
