Hello everyone. I've just joined and this is my first post.
Recently, I've been inquring the shinjung taenghwa.I am starting with identifying central characters on the painting. I have some problem with the wrathful Buddha found on many paintings, i.e. this one:
I can't identify his sanskrit name. I found that in Korean he's called Dae Ye Jok Geum Gang Seong Ja (hanja: , 大穢迹金剛聖者). In generally, the Yejok Geumgang part is the same as in Ucchusma Dharmapala who's supposed to be a wrathful form of Shakyamuni Buddha but the Ucchusma is generally considered one of the Vidyarajas, Luminous Kings (明王, myeongwang) who are in another part of the paintings. The character is also similiar to Gundari Myeongwang. So my question is: who is he? What are his characteristics? Do you perhaps know the sanskrit name of Dae Yejok Geumgang Seongja or know someone who could help me with that?
I also don't understand how the Hwa Eom Seong Jung kido addresses the beings in the taenghwa. On Polish taenghwas their primarily beings from the deva realms - how do they form a 'holy gathering of the Avatamsaka Sutra'? Does it mean that they're bodhisattvas who took the form of the worldly beings or does it just mean that they're mentioned in the retinue in the Avatamsaka Sutra?
If anybody can help me with my inquiry, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance :)
